About marcus schoo | jennifer schoo | images

Marcus first picked up a camera seriously, whilst living in Australia in 1998, as a tool to document his first visit to western Canada and Alaska. The mountain and forest environments of that region were a sharp contrast to home and he was immediately drawn to the area. A magazine, bought during that visit, introduced him to the work of photographers working in the exact area he was visiting. Their ability to capture and share the environment he was witnessing first hand was inspiring. He has been traveling the world with a camera ever since, striving to live up to their wonderful example, creating images in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Alaska and Antarctica.

Photography encourages you to connect with a subject so completely, to study its every line, curve or texture, far more than you would normally do without a camera. Behind each created image is a story but when it is presented to the world each image must, inevitably, stand alone. Marcus' goal is to make the image so compelling to the viewer that they let their imagination run wild and create their own story behind the image. When that happens the image, and the subject, will mean as much to the viewer as it does to the artist.

Born in Lancaster, northern England, Jennifer gained a love of the outdoors from trips into the beautiful landscapes of the nearby Lake District and her passion for travel started with family trips to Western Europe. Being a keen photographer from a young age these trips were all well documented. Moving to Perth, Western Australia and then to New Zealand, first to Christchurch and more recently to Wellington has only increased her desire to travel further to witness and photograph the many varied landscapes, cultures and wildlife around the world.
A passion for travel has led Jennifer to visit and photograph some of the world's remotest areas in Alaska, the Australian outback and Antarctica. By capturing the spirit and beauty of these extraordinary landscapes and the people and animals who live there in her images Jennifer aims to let the viewer experience their beauty for themselves and possibly inspire them to discover more about the wildlife and culture of those places.
